Trivia
Following the success of TV films The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler, a third Kolchak TV movie titled The Night Killers was scripted by Richard Matheson. The script, which was never made into a movie, had Kolchak discovering an alien conspiracy to replace politicians with robots in Hawaii. The script was finally made available to the public when Gauntlet Press released the book Richard Matheson's Kolchak Scripts in 2004. The book also includes the scripts for the movies that were produced as well as interviews with Richard Matheson, William F. Nolan, Jeff Rice, and Dan Curtis.
