I must confess that I have never heard of any of these bands. I've heard the name Hardgore, but have never actualy heard any of their music. Feel free to post about them though. I'm always interested in learning about new horror bands.

Yes, why aren't more people discussing Death Metal bands on here? Surely it's the most obvious reference to horror in music. Deicide are a classic band, but as far as references to horror go, how about some Cannibal Corpse or Exhumed for the pure gore. Fans of horror with a more gothic sensibility may wish to look at the Black Metal scene, such as Emperor, Burzum etc. (Early 90s material is the best bet).

Okay personly I listen more to normal metal bands, for as far you can call MetallicA normal they are the best!, but I don't really listen to Black metal and stuff. I do listen to trash metal like Slayer and stuff. Oh man, you have all kinds of Metal? does it really matter which is the best for horror? Okay i do agree that black metal is really for horror and stuff. But okay I don't make cense.

I'm more of a 70's - 80's big hair metal fan myself. Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Zodiac Mindwarp, Faster Pussycat, Kiss, etc. I like to think of it as cartoon metal. It's just fun music.

The new rock just isn't all that fun. Seems to be mostly about whinning and bitching about how much their lives suck. I listn to music to escape my problems, not to dwell on them.

I did by one Cannibal Courps CD because it had a cool painted cover and I though a song called "Cover With Sores" would be hilarious! Not so. I discovered a whole album of a guy grunting (like he's sitting on a toilet) what ever gross thought inters his head. No point to the songs, no meaning... just random gross thoughts grunted out to speed metal.

This may sound funny, but it's not funny at all when you listen to it. I've only listened to it two times and then put it in a drawer where it's been ever since. It's been in there for like four or five years.

Still, I welcome any and all discussion about any horror related music, even Cannibal Corpse. I may even dig this CD out and give it another try if I read some interesting posts about them.

What also is really good music, Metal, well i think it's good Metal, is THE NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HAEVY METAL (TNWOBHM) at the end of the 70' and the begin of the 80' music like Budgie, The Misfits, killing joke and stuff like that. They are cool too.

I think that saying that there is no point to Cannibal Corpse's music is a bit of an apocalyptic statement that cannot be justified. Obviously to fans of death metal their music is extremely important as they are one of the eading bands in the genre. Jim Carey is a fan of the band which incidentally led to them making a cameo appearance in the film "Ace Ventura - Pet Detective." I know, that's not the kind of film that you'd expect to find Cannibal Corpse in, right? Oh yeah, here are another few pointers if anyone is interested. There is a Swedish band called Entombed who have got a track on their "Hollowman" EP called "Hellraiser." This is actually Christopher Young's score to the film played out on guitars, bass and drums and keyboards overlayed with loads of samples from the film itself, so any fans of that movie might be interested in that. Also, fans of Dracula and particularly the Vlad Tepes history on which the infamous Cont is based may want to hear a copy of the LP "Nightwing" by a Swedish black ametal band called Marduk, as this is a concept album all about the life of Mr. Tepes. Just tought I'd let you know about this one. Cheers for now.

The Misfits were neither british, or heavy metal. Just because Metallica covered them does NOT make make the a NWOBHM band. Also to hear some real horror metal, check out MACABRE... They wrote a whole album about Jeffrey Dahmer. These guys are sick musicians, with a sick sense of humor, and actually make fun of Jeffrey. It's great.

Dude, Big Black is NOT death metal, it's not even metal, it defies classification. They were an amazing band though. If you haven't already you should check out Shellac--Steve Albini's next "band" after Big Black broke up, not quite as good but very close IMO.

My favorite death metal bands are Mortician, Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Immolation, Macabre, Krisiun, Sadistic Intent, Deicide, Lock Up, Hypocrisy, and Usurper just to name a few. And I also love Dark Angel, Exodus Venom, and Motörhead as well. I worship death and thrash !!!!
