Hi all.....
I am a TON fanatic, I was wondering if there were any other groups that anyone would suggest in the lines of that genre.

Thanks,
Eli

I too love Type O Negative, they are a first class act. "October Rust" is probably my favourite album, but they're all good. As far as similar acts go, TON are a difficult act to follow, because they are such an original sounding band. Personally, I love a lot of gothic/black metal music. Some cats you may want to investigate aould be Tristania (gothic metal with a lot of keyboards, choirs etc.), early Paradise Lost ("Gothic" LP), My Dying Bride (REALLY good band, early LPs had a full-time violin player in the band, giving them a mournful edge) etc. I can't really think of a lot of others at the moment, but there are tons of acts out there in this genre. Hope to have been of some help. Cheers.

Chinnery, those are very good recommendations on Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. Glad you like 'em - I luuuve.

Eli, I'd really think you'd like these. I'm a big Type O fan too. Did you ever hear Peter Steele's former band Carnivore? The first album is simply the best, the second, Retaliation is more whimsical but if you dig the Negative Xperience you might want to check in.

CARNIVORE from the late 80's? If so,that was a very good group.

Picking out TON's coolest song is a trick thing. I've managed to narrow it down to two tunes. The first is "12 Black Rainbows". This is a typical TON song, slow 'n' heavy with a magnificent chorus. The second is a song called "Possession", this is a Sarah McLachlan cover. It has a melancholy, eerie feel to it. Very melodic, and with Pete singing with a Scottish accent at the start. Very cool.
