TOO MANY TO NAME!! Here's some "current" bands to laugh at: PRIMER 55 - sounds EXACTLY like Limp Bizkit and KoRN. I mean from the lyrics to the riffs. With lyrics like: "Dead Bodies, all around me..." or "Somebody help me, i'm fallin a part at the seams..." YEAH RIGHT! Like this dude has issues!! He WISHES!! SlipKNOT and MUDVANYNE(?)- maybe they wouldn't be so bad, but the costumes take away all credibility with me. Do I really need DARTH MAUL jumping around screamin? If your gonna play dress up, do it right!! PAPA ROACH - I haven't even heard the whole album. In fact I think I have only heard a few songs, but they SUCK!!! Factory 81 - TOO, TOO, TOO PREDICTABLE in their music. Nothing new, same ol same ol! BUCKCHERRY - I don't have good reasons but I HATE this band too. Wanna be Steve Tyler?!?! Sucks cuz they're touring with MONSTER MAGNET NOW. I.C.P. - man, i don't even know where to begin. WAAAY too commercial! All those gimmicks are RIDICULOUS!!!! Glad to see KOTTONMOUTH KINGS bank on them and bail!!! BUSH - I can't STAND BUSH. And I don't mean VAGINA or my President. BUSH THE BAND SUCKS!! STEREOMUD - I saw a video on mTV2 last night from them. The lead singer has a wicked tattoo on his back. But other than that they suck. Just too predictable. ---------------------------------- Its like a trend now to jam, then have the music slow down a bit and have the lead vocals start acting like they are sad and hurt or down or whatever. Then the music creeps up again, and the lead vocals start getting angrier! Then right before everyone explodes, the music stops and the lead vocals says some absurd lyric and then the music blast back in full force with the lead singer usually closing their eyes while they yell and sing. The videos for these bands are so predictable too. And wearing ANY windbreaker in your video now makes you a POSER!!! I honestly can't see the big difference between boy bands and some of this garbage being passed as music now a days. A boy band finds a group of guys who have style and play popular music. They are easy to sell to the public. With Limp Bizkit being a hit, it was easy to sell groups doing that syle, ca$hing in on YOUR money for buying bad clones! SlipKnot saw how Manson made money by dressing "scary" and "kooky" and they did the same. Then what happens? Oh. Money can be made, so let's have MUDVAYNE dress up too. IT's A SCAM!!!!!! Do you think Led Zepp had any "gimmicks" to sell their music? What "gimmick" did RAGE use? They were political and hardly anyone cared what they said, the music overshadowed their message!! The Melvins get on stage in a t-shirt and shitty equipment. No makeup or gimmicks! I think Rammstein deserves a little credit. Most Americans can't understand what they are saying due to the language barrier. But they are still a hit cause they can jam! I dunno. If you grew up with Alice Cooper and later in your life saw Marilyn Manson, you'd know why itz such a rip. Or hear bands where its ABOUT the music and MUSIC only. Watch a tape of Jimmi Hendrix! The dude could care less about the crowd or anything. He's SOOOO into his music. It has a "soul" behind it. The Deftones are good. Tool, though having a HUGE FRAT following, are still nice. I think Dr. Dre is just sick with music! Actually I still like Trent Reznor too, despite claims that he has sold out. I think Red and Mef are some of the better rappers out there. Geez,Fitz-your Alice/Manson analogy sounds like something written by that A-HOLE on the movie board,you know MR....lol. Gotta give me credit,I never said ROCK is dead.Yeah,all that stuff blows but I'm no Rage fan either.Every song sounds the same and while I'm sure Zach is serious as opposed to Fred Durst or that moron in Pantera(posers),I am SOOOOOO tired of the "I'M SO FULL OF RAGE" vocals. Pretty much any new band basically bites. Music in the 90s-00s is in a major slump, everyone is copying everyone else in hopes of getting mucho cash. Music has become trendy. That's why I stick with the 80s metal bands like Helloween, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, W.A.S.P., ... Submitted By: C.J.

Music has been trendy bud, that's nothing new. As for not having any good music in the 90's to the present, that's completely wrong. Maybe metal is in a slump but it's been in a slump for years if you ask me. There have been tons of bands that have come out in the past decade or so that are amazing: Bardo Pond, Mogwai, The Afghan Whigs, Girls Against Boys, Big Black, The Sheila Divine, Atari Teenage Riot, Radiohead, Yo La Tengo, At the Drive-in, Doves, Fugazi, Luna, AFI, Superchunk, The Flaming Lips, God Speed You Black Emperor, Hum, Orbit, Belle & Sebastan, Moby...I could go on all day. Of course if you limit yourself to one genre of music (metal) you're never going to hear these bands. Metal is okay but it's grown boring, I listened to it alot when I was younger but have since moved on. There is a whole world of great music out there but you have to look for it. I can't stand rap/hip-hop, so I don't like how that element has become part of the formula for today's pop metal. I'm an old metalhead from the 80's. When I got St. Vitus's album Born Too Late back in like 86' or 87', I thought, hey, this completely describes me. I still listen to the first four Sabbath albums alot. Along with Vitus, Pentagram, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, Melvins, Sleep, High On Fire, Electric Wizard, Acid King, well, you get the picture. I've got news for you El Chupecabra, but I fucking hate alernative music. It's for geeks and total wimps. It's also too soft. Alternative is all fucking trendy. Atari Teenage Riot El Chup, they're ok, but it sounds like a rave gone bad. Alec Empire is tyte screamin, and the chick is a "nice" touch. Similar to Rob Zombie gettin' a chick to play bass in White Zombie. But it gets a little old hearin' them just scream about subjects I can't get into to. Do I care if Berlin burns? Plus the beats are so electronic it sounds like the music off RIDGE RACER for the PlayStation. I DO like A LOT of other music than metal, but since we were just talking about WHO's BAD, metal is the easiest target. Its hard to put my finger on any "type" of music i'm a fan of. I can't stand GODSMACK, but one of their songs has grown on me. (they still SUK) I used to hate PEARL JAM, but after reading an article with Eddie, I liked a few of their songs. Right now i've been pimpin' ZEKE, SON OF SAM (which some of you freaks already have thrown out too) NEBULA, OUTKAST, and the new Fear Factory. But I don't cringe when i'm chillin' at a pub and Portishead comes on. ---------------------------------------- "And yes, 90s bands suck" That's a WHACK statment. You just don't listen to enough music or go to enough shows to catch enough acts. If all you need out of music is to "feel strong" and "tough" and not "weak", you don't even qualify as a judge. Your telling me Jimi's music SUCKED because it wasn't HARD?? Skinny Puppy has a ton of "soft" music and they DON'T SUCK!!! Talk about trends, man, head banging is trendy. There's a mold for all head bangers. The back of one of my Melvins T-Shirts sums up the metal scene PERFECT! It reads: Why did the metel head cross the road? A rave gone bad, yeah that pretty much sums up ATR well. I don't know, I've just got a soft spot for there brand of noise. Plus I love the fact that they play all their tracks through an Atari system, don't ask me how though. Personally I don't care about there politics and they don't seem to have a deep message anyway but it's all good. Misfitz or anyone else, have you heard the new Fear Factory album yet, I was debating whether to by it unheard but I don't like doing that regardless of what band it is, instead I picked up the new Black Eyed Peas album.
