I was at Tower Records about a half an hour ago and saw six copies of the new issue of Cemetery Dance on the rack.
So, do you want one more reason to snag up this magazine? Well, I am one of the contributing authors to the Richard Laymon Tribute section. That's right, you can find the name Brad Gullickson on page 48, just three pages after Dean Koontz and on the same page as Ed Lee. Kelly Laymon had contacted me a month or so ago and asked me to write a short tribute article and so I did. But I wasn't sure if they were actually going to use it (in fact, I didn't even dream that they would use it). To say the least I'm excited about the whole thing. I've loved this magazine for so long and the idea of my name being in there with all those great authors just blows my mind.
Needless to say, I bought all six copies.

Nope, I'm still pregnant. This is just an extra bit of good news. You can expect a report on the other really good news any day now.

Wow, that's really really cool. I just hope that us subscribers don't have to wait too long to see our issues arrive.
Again: Congratulations, Brad!

What an incredible honor, Brad, being included in that issue! That's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Can't wait to find out your other news...

Thanks guys.
I know what you mean Mark. I still haven't gotten my issue in the mail yet either. However, I have noticed that my local Tower Records gets a lot of stuff early. I bought DVDs of "The Way of the Gun," "The Yards," "Me, Myself, & Irene," and "Requiem for a Dream" several weeks before they were supposed to be released.

I've read three of the stories so far: "Pick-Up On Highway One" by Richard Laymon, "The Move" by Bentley Little," and "The Haunt" by Jack Ketchum.
"Pick-Up On Highway One" was pretty good. It's not a very serious tale and like "The Hitchhiker" by Roald Dahl it gives another example of why not to pick up hitchhikers.
"The Move" started off really good but petered out towards the end. There's not much I want to say about this one, although I'll give you a little sample of dialogue:
"What's that," Dave asked.
"Cattle prod."
Ketchum's "The Haunt" was amazing. I'd say that it's my second favorite Ketchum tale, right after "The Box." I'm not going to say a thing about it though. You'll just have to see for yourself.

Mr. S.A.,
Where did you get the copy you're reading, from a store or in the mail from a subscription?

That kind of stinks, doesn't it? I mean, you subscribe to give the most support that you can and then it hits the racks way before you get the magazine. I know it's mostly the distributer's fault, but STILL.....

Agreed, Mark. As I told you before, I recently talked with a real person ar CCD (not Rich) and one of the things I was told was that retailers and businesses are sent copies of their wares before the rest of us do. I entioned my displeasure over this and was told that's just the way it is. Not right, but whatcha gonna do.

Yeah, I agree with both of you guys. It's funny, the reason I got a subscription to CD was because the stores around here stopped putting it up on the shelves, then just after a couple of issues I got in the mail the stores started carrying it again. Oh well, it does save me a little money to subscribe.
