Thought everybody would like to know that there are two new Lansdale stories in the bookstores. The first one is called "The Mule Rustlers" and it can be found in THE MYSTERIOUS PRESS ANNIVERSAY ANTHOLOGY. It's about thirty pages and I really, really, really enjoyed it. The second story is actually a non-fiction piece about Lansdale's mother. I forget the title but it can be found in the new paperback called MOTHERS & SONS. It has a purple trim and looks really silly and you'll get all sorts of looks from the cash register lady when you buy it along with your horror books.
Thanks! I'm always on the lookout for new Lansdale.
Did I ever tell you my mother is a Joe Lansdale fan? We never think of our parents as being cool, but... My mom picked up "Writer of the Purple Rage" after I left it somewhere, and she just couldn't stop reading it. She loved it!
Of course, her favorite reading is true crime stories, so go figure!
Sounds like you've got one cool mom there. My mom ain't too bad either. She's more into Science-Fiction than horror but she'll watch the occasional horror movie or two. And she never bothered me about my fondness for horror.
