I've gone and done something brave. I've submitted some artwork to FEMSPEC magazine in the hopes that they select me to do a cover illustration for their "Women in Horror" issue. They seem pretty enthusiastic, but I've never been published or even won any sort of artistic competition, so I'm a little nervous. Everyone keep their fingers crossed!

(If anyone wants to see the work I sent them, I can send you a PDF file [1.2 MB] -- just email me or leave a message here, and I'll send it to ya!)

Good Luck Deena. I'd love it if you would send the image to me.

Actually, I too am starting to get serious with my own writing. Just today, I sent out a story for Brian Keene's Dark Horizon. Like Jonathan said, "The highest mountain we ever climb is our own threshold." It took me forever just to get over my own fear of "I'm not good enough." Sometimes you've just got to put yourself out there.

Congrats, Deena!
Hope you get good news.
As for me, I posted a poem on the Story Board a few days ago regarding a stroll through an actual area of my town that was leveled by a tornado in January of 99. I submitted it to our Local Pride Contest out here, which is really nothing compared to what you guys have done, but I've got a shot at getting it published in NASHVILLE Magazine, which is the most exposure anything I have written has ever gotten. Wish me luck!
