Wow, talk about a response! This may take a while. First of all, thanks to everyone for your compliments on the review, glad you thought it was a good one.

Fenny, I doubt the Lecter books will effect me too much, but thanks for the warning. As far as the meat goes, I already eat my steaks very rare, but that's a wolf thing for me. >: ) I have to agree with you on the character of Dolarhyde, it's quite an amazing thing that Harris created in him and that feeling of being along for the ride in the pursuit does stick with you.

Mr. SA, I'd have to agree with you as well, that Lecter is vital to the book, he is a key catalyst to some of the main action, and as you and Jonathon stated and I talked about in the review, his reach is an incredible device. It gives one a shudder to think that someone that demented can even be a threat to one's life from a maximum security institution just through his sheer brilliance. As for your feelings on Clarice Starling, I'm developing my own feelings about her that are somewhat different, but I'll cover that in the Silence review later. Excellent thoughts!

Layback, Harris definitely does inspire some sympathy for Dolarhyde in his history and his relationship, and when he tries to free himself from the grip of "the Dragon", but I don't want to say too much, just in case someone who hasn't read the book is following this thread. I couldn't live with myself if I spoiled that for them.

Final note, as to the Peter Straub stuff being discussed, I guess now I'll definitely have to read Koko based on Fenny's reccomendation. : ) I've read Ghost Story and I have to agree with you guys that it's quite an excellent story with some very memorable scenes and one I'd reccomend to anyone.

Well that's what I can offer right now for this discussion, I'll have to see how the next few days go. As you know, it's a bit hectic right now!
