Hello all,

You've probably been wondering why there hasn't been an update sent for quite some time now, or why the updates on the site have really dwindled to a crawl over the last couple of months. Well... The truth is that I took an unexpected break from The Cabinet to reevaluate what I wanted to do with it. The demands of the site had grown to the point that I was struggling to keep up with it.

After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided to close down the site - effective immediately. To be completely honest, the site has taken a high toll on both my body and my mind and I am looking forward to freeing up some time to pursue other interests. As the site continued to grow, the demands of maintenance continued to get worse and what little free time I had was quickly eaten up. Needless to say, I really could use a break from it.

Because of the short notice, I plan on keeping the message boards open for an additional two weeks (until June 15) before they are taken down, so that the regular posters have enough time to re-locate to a new message board. However, the rest of the site has already been disabled.

Let me take this opportunity to thank all of the contributors to the site, both past and present, for helping make The Cabinet one of the best on the Net. I truly could not have done it without them. I would like to give a special thanks to Alex Williams and Joanne Hopkins for keeping news flowing on the site over the last couple of months, while I was off thinking over my decision.

And a very, very special thanks to all of you who have visited the site over the years and helped it grow into the most popular horror site on the Internet. Your e-mails were always greatly appreciated and your support has been amazing!

We had one hell of a seven year run, but the time has come to close her down. That is not to say that it might not resurface someday - After all, if there was anything we have learned from this genre is that the dead have a bad habit of not actually staying dead. However, I can't make any guarantees - It all depends on how bored I get with all this free time on my hands.

Again, thank you very much for all of the support and the words of encouragement over the last seven years. I've had a blast working on this site and am thrilled that I had the opportunity to meet so many interesting people. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Best wishes,
-Casey Hopkins

This is a huge disappointment for me, I have only been reading/posting for a few months, but I checked this board daily for tips, review and humor. Thank you Mr. SA. Glad your time at WHC was enjoyable. I like the new Gorezone, but also really liked this board. RIP Casey

This is devastating news. I've been online for about 3 years now and Dr. Casey's has been an institution. I'm more than sad to hear about the end of this horror establishment.

Thanks, Dr. C., for all the good times. You SHALL be missed.

Thanks for the forum, I for one appreciate it and all the work that goes into something like this. Take care

Okay, I finally managed to get back on this board. My computer has been giving me hell.

I also want to thank Casey for all the good times. I owe so much to the man that there is no way I could ever repay him. Thank you, and thanks to all the people who've joined me on this board. It will be missed.

I posted to this thread last night, but I guess it didn't get through.

When I got my computer, Casey's was the first horror site I visited, and it has remained my favorite. I will miss this place terribly, and I hope I can keep in touch with all my friends from this board. Now that you'll have all that free time, Casey, maybe I'll even hear from YOU once in a while. Smile If you ever feel like shooting the breeze about radio horror--or anything else--drop me a line. That goes for the rest of you, as well. My mailbox will always be open to you all.

Guess I'd better wind this up, before I start blubbing...

I love you guys, it's been a slice,

Oh man! I just finally got to check up here again in hopes of being able to post again soon, and now it's leaving.

I can understand your reasons Casey, you need your own life. I'm thankful for the time we've had hear and I hope we'll at least hear from you elsewhere from time to time when you find that all that free time has to be spent somehow.

As for the rest of you, we need to get a consensus about where we're going to go, because even though I haven't been around just recently I REFUSE to lose you all. We've all enjoyed talking about horror, and we should all find another board to continue to do so. I might even find someone to make one...

Wolf and everybody else,

Go on over to the book forum at www.gorezone.net that's where I am (under my real name of Brad Gullickson) and there are a lot of other great people there, including some well known horror authors.

It's hard to see The Cabinet go, but that shouldn't mean that our conversations should die as well. See you guys on the web.

Doc,
Thanks for the memories. This is the first and still the greatest horror website I have ever visited. I especially loved the Horror Movie data base. Good Luck in all future endeavors. Stay in touch!

Man, that's a shame.

I'm kinda new here and was merely looking for a list of the 100 best horror novels. Could somebody help me out please.

Sorry about the site. It appears that it will be missed.

Thank you Casey for being such a fine and twisted person and spreading the word. This genre is truly unique in that it is all about the dead and dying. I've discovered my fettish and it's not about being beaten, it's about being EATEN! Viva La Gorror.

Good luck with your endeavors and please, please come back to us.
