Okay I know its a classic and all but to be honest I have never read it until now. I'm about half way through it and I love it. I mean some of the movies are good but the book really puts them all to shame I must say. I think maybe its so good cuz its written by a woman and lets me honest here women are always more talented (and intelligent) then men.

Well, I'm sure that you are saying that with a wink, Misty. True, women are just as talented and intelligent as men, I agree. Some of my favorite authors are women: Tami Hoag, Ann Rice, Poppy Z. Brite, Barbara Michaels, and the list goes on. I don't judge on their gender, just on the creativity of their imagination. =)
I think that Shelley's "Frankenstein" is one of the all-time greats, and I agree with you there that it puts the movies to shame, because the monster in the book had such a sorrowful, humanistic quality to him. I really loved it. But once again, horror is horror, no matter who writes it.

Eh, I read Frankenstein a couple of years ago and I was not impressed with it. There was really no scientific explanation at all as to how the doctor made the creature, who was, as you pointed out, very human-like. And in that, it didn't even seem to be a horror novel to me. Of course, back in the days in which she wrote it, it was probably very scary, so I can understand how it can be considered a horror classic. After all, it paved the way for other books about people wanting to re-animate the dead (such as Pet Sematary). But I much prefer the screenplay by Frank Darabont and Steph Lady.
Oh! And as for that claim that women have the superior intellect... you mistook "then" for "than," dear. =)

Well, I still need to cut my teeth on the classics. I have not yet read Stoker's DRACULA or Shelly's FRANKENSTEIN. Yeah, yeah, yeah...it's a sin...I know, I know.

I will agree that there are some talented female writers out there (Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Nancy Collins all come to mind), but I wouldn't say that all women writers are better than men. We are all equal in this world. There are as many bad female writers as their are bad male writers, and there are as many good female writers as there are good male writers. The same thing goes for any business.
