Went to the local Borders today before classes.

Picked up Stephen King's ON WRITING: A Memoir Of The Craft. I'm already sixty pages into it and I must say that it's a wonderful read. Check it out.

Also picked up MY FAVORITE HORROR STORY edited by Mike Baker and Martin H. Greenberg. This is a new anthology from DAW Horror which has horror authors like Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Harlan Ellison, Joe Lansdale, and many many more picking out their all time favorite horror stories. This one is a must just for the cool introductions.

Also saw that Lansdale's story collection HIGH COTTON is out and on the shelves. If you have yet to read any of Lansdale's stories than don't wait another second. Pick this baby up.

Thanks for the tipoff, I picked up My Favourite Fantasy Story a while back and loved it... this one has to be a gem... Greenberg's a market I'd just love to crack ,)

That anthology sounds really good - most authors have some prime choices. Often ones you'd never have heard of otherwise.

I agree with you, Steve... Isn't Greenberg EVERYWHERE? About half my anthologies are edited by him.

That's definitely true, Greenberg seems to edit a book a week.

Harlan Ellison makes an interesting choice. He picked "The Human Chair" by Edagawa Rampo. Rampo is the pseudonym for a Japanese writer (forget his actual name right now) and Edagawa Rampo is a homonym for Edgar Allen Poe. This story was written in 1925 and Ellison guarantees that it's the weirdest story in the entire anthology. I'll be reading it today, so I'll let you know.

Just finished reading "The Human Chair." It was definitely a weird tale and I really liked it until the cop-out ending. Still, it was creepy enough to hold my interest.

Thanks for the heads up on the books. I think that when I go in debt it will be because of all the new books I have to have Smile
