I'm really opening my eyes up for the horror of this guy. It manages to be terrifying and special in ways that differ widely from his fellow genre writers. Another mindreeling story I read by him a month or so ago was OBJECTS OF DESIRE IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR. I think you may be familiar with this one. It's from THE CROW: SHATTERED LIVES AND BROKEN DREAMS. I read it my trusty BEST NEW HORROR. I've heard you rave about DEATHBIRD STORIES and that it's a high horror factor in that volume so I've got it targeted.

I read that one in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. I loved the begining but was a little disapointed in the ending.
DEATHBIRD STORIES is a must but another good Harlan collection that's strong on horror is STALKING THE NIGHTMARE with an excellent introduction by Stephen King.
