This is just another one of those points of curiosity for me, so here goes, let me know if this applies to the rest of you:

You go to your bookshelf to pick out your next book after finishing one. As you look through, trying to decide which of many you could read, you notice several old favorites and start to browse through them for those favorite scenes that you remember, the ones that really hit you or just brought a smile to your face in some way. A couple hours later, you're still standing there, no decision, but you've been through almost everything that you've already read going over favorite parts and such.

This happen to anyone else?

Yeah, I do that as well. Sometimes I'll be stuck in front of my bookshelves for a whole day. Now isn't that sad.....

Well I don't know if that's really sad. Depending on the day and what you have to do, that could be the best way to spend it. : ) Certainly beats spending the whole day wasting ones brain at the television.

Ha! I can't believe it! I do this all the time. Picking up old favourites and reading parts of it. Most recently when I heard the Wolf reading THE HUNGRY MOON I had to go back and read that excellently gruesome birth scene.

As for when I'm finished with a book I always have a hard time picking the next one and can go days, note, DAYS! in indecision.
Bugger me, this is great...that I'm not alone in my peculiar qualm that is Smile

Ah, nice to hear that from both of you guys. I'm find more and more when I ask these things here that all of us horror lit nuts seem to have those wonderful little quirks in common. Kind of binds us together.

And I used to do that, go for days just searching through my bookshelf, looking for just what I want to read. Lately though (having so much to read and practically devouring books, and knowing that I have to head back to college soon which will limit my pleasure reading time) I've become a man of decision, usually just narrowing it down to a few and picking one. Normally it ends up being a good one, and of course I still love looking through old favorites for great scenes and such. Nice to know we're all normal in that.

I too must head back to college very soon. Next Monday to be precise. I feel your pain. Luckily I have at least one class to look forward to and that's my Horror Short Stories class. I've already picked up my books for it and I was delighted to see last year's BEST NEW HORROR edited by Stephen Jones to be one of the required books. That should at least be fun.

Now if I could only say the same thing about Spanish.

Man, I tell you, I hope there's a class like that at my college, I'd love to have a whole course on horror fiction, talk about a bird course for any one of us. : ) Hope you enjoy it Mr. SA. And I know how you feel on Spanish, those darn language requirements.
