I was only about 7 or 8 when my sister took my brother and I to see it so I don't remember too much about it. I remember thinking that it was good, but we all know what happens when we rent these movies that we have'nt seen since childhood. They usually don't pack the punch that they did back then. It is even availabl;e anywhere for rental?

I can remember being told how scary "It's Alive" was when it was out in the theaters but I nver got a chance to see it until 1984 when we got a vcr. I settled down for what I thought was going to be one hard hitting scary movie and found myself laughing most of the time. Sometimes it stinks to grow up. BTW a place called Video Dungeon carries "The Boy Who Cried Werewolf". Goodnight Carl.

I saw what I think must have been a pilot for a tv show that didn't make it. I saw it sometime between 1975-79. I was kid at the time when I saw it and can't remember the name of it. The main character was a man who had had an out of body experience after a motorcycle accident, and who could now seen his guardian angel because of it.
He winds up up on an island, where a man dabbling with the occult has created a golem out of mud. The golem has gone berzerk and killed it's creator, and stalks the others when they get to the island. Eventually it kills everyone but the main character, who with the advice of his guardian angel, trips the golem into salt water. It dissolves. It scared the hell out of me as a kid, but I never knew the name of it. Nobody else I talk to has ever seen it. Have any of you?
I also remember a movie I saw on tv around the same time period, that had Jack Palance in it. It dealt with voodoo. I only remember bits and pieces of it now. Jack Palance falling in a quicksand pit. A voodoo ceremony where they sacrafice a chicken. A retarded teenage boy who keeps a tarantula as a pet. That's all I can remember about it. I believe I saw it twice on television during the 70's but never knew it's name. I've tried looking for anything like it in Jack Palance filmographies, but have had no luck. It may have been a different actor, but I recall it being him. It sound familiar to anyone?

Insofar as true horror is concerned, I think "Thriller" definitely excelled. Some of my fav episodes --- (1) Pigeons from Hell --- still have visions of the blood-dripping zombie walking with the hatchet implanted in his head, (2) The Cheaters --- true horror brought to a culmination when the guy looked at his reflection (as a kid, when the series first aired, I had my eyes closed but eventually caught it as a rerun), (3) Parasite Mansion --- the old lady really was a true control freak, (4) The Watcher --- not really horror in the true sense, but the murderer's methodical stalking really produced goosebumps ... By the way, does anyone know if the series is still on SCIFI?

HorrorLARPguy,
You are the only other person who has seen that! The program you are thinking of is TALES OF THE HAUNTED,a pilot for a proposed series that never got off the ground.it was shown in a serialized form(monday thru friday) and hosted by Christopher Lee.Jack palance did indeed star in it as a drifter and his son who comes across these little old ladies who practice witchcraft and intends on robbing them.after all the incidents you describe,he goes to kill them, and they end up turning him into a Lenny-like-simpleton at the end.I know it later was reshown as an edited 2-hour movie without the Lee intros.

Two of the best made-for-TV horror movies ever made are also two of the most obscure.
"Fear No Evil" (1969), and "Ritual of Evil" (1970) were excellent Universal productions, well written/acted and extremely atmospheric.
Both starred Louis Jordan as a kind of psychic Sherlock Holmes, with Wilfred Hyde-White as a Watson-like sidekick.
To my knowledge, no movie channel has ever picked these up and they have never been released on video. I haven't seen either of them in decades. I will never consider my horror video collection to be complete until I find these.

Ouch, those were just on eBay. Both went for $76.00. I really want them too, so don't feel bad.

Hello!
Anyone remember "Gargoyles"?
I believe this was made for TV (mid 70's?)
Any movie that has a motorcycle gang tangle with inhuman gargoyles and their satanic looking leader is worth it! Wink
