| It is only a week away from the debut of the new HBO series True Blood! I've never read the novels it is being adapted from, so have no idea what to expect. I'm less thrilled that it involves vampires, but couldn't be more excited that it is coming from American Beauty/Six Feet Under's Alan Ball! If I can handle anyone tackling vampires again, it would be the guy that has mastered the ability to use death as a central theme to exploring life. |

Well it's about time! I was so bummed when Carnivale stopped being made; a new supernatural cable series is a great way to welcome the fall. _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class. |

| I'm glad HBO has finally kicked out something to draw me back. After Carnivale, The Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, and Six Feet Under - I never dreamed that I wouldn't have much interest in any of their series. |

i'd been waiting for the show for nearly a year now. not because i'm a fan of Ball, but because I've read most of Harris' novels. unfortunately, they go down hill pretty quick. loved the first book, but by the fourth I'd given up.
last week i stumbled into Blockbuster adn saw that they had free rentals for the first episode as a promotion.
terrible, fucking terrible. this is about on par with the worst sitcoms on tv.... badly written and acted, with zero suspense and a shitload of braindead characters.
just a few more weeks 'till Dexter.... _________________ Are you and Independent Filmmaker? Advertise your work as part of the B-Independent.com Banner Exchange program.

I had never heard of this show before HBO got ahold of it and watched the first episode tonight. Might I be safe in assuming the dog is the bartender? _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class. |

I've read a lot of reviews of the series, but I am not sure someone summed up my feelings quite as well as you did with that one sentence.
It was definitely quirky and seemed very disjointed. I'm still a big fan of Alan Ball's work though, so I'll probably watch the season and see how it goes. I have to admit that my first impression was not good. It had a few good moments and a few not so good moments, but there is potential... I hope. |

Actually, the show is growing on me, but it may be because I love and miss Louisiana. The show has made me want to move back there, hurricanes or no hurricanes. _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class. |

| I have to admit that the second episode was definitely an improvement or at least I am growing used to its quirkiness. My only concern at this point is that Dexter starts back up in a week and having them both on the same nights might make me compare the qualities of the two shows. Or, I'll just be thrilled to have two genre-related shows on the cable networks again. |

I've decided to keep on watching this show just to follow the story, and well, it's so hard to not watch a supernatural cable series.
I have to say, I love her best friend Tara. She says things I dream of saying, and her temper is comic. It makes no matter to me if it's a cliche, I get a kick out of someone going off 24 hours a day because I fantasize about doing it myself.
Overall, the show is kind of fun, and since I don't have any formal education on film or television, the things that bother some are over my head.
It's better than watching the news. _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class. |

Did no one like the second season? I loved it. _________________ Work is the curse of the drinking class. |
