Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum
This museum at Whitefish Point in Michigan is dedicated to educating visitors about the hazards of travel on the Great Lakes. The exhibits include the histories of various wrecks as well as artifacts of maritime significance.
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Among the items on display is the bell taken from the wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in 1995. Annually in November the museum rings the bell and reads the names of the 29 crew members who died when the Fitzgerald sank.
