Edgar Allan Poe
This house was home to author Edgar Allan Poe from 1833 until 1835. It was converted into a museum dedicated to Poe in the 1970s. Displays in the museum include china and glassware belonging to Poe's foster father, a telescope said to be used by Poe, illustrations for his story, The Raven, Poe's travelling desk and sextant, bottles of cognac left at Poe's nearby grave by the Poe Toaster, and more.
Local actors perform plays based on Poe's stories the weekends before and after Halloween.
