Information
The Stand
The town of Ogunquit, Maine appears in the epic horror fantasy novel The Stand by Stephen King. Ogunquit appears in early chapters of the book. It is the hometown of the characters Harold Lauder, Frances "Fran" Goldsmith and her father. It is here that Harold and Fran watch their family catch the "Captain Trips" super-flu and die. Fran buries her father in the yard and begins her cross country trek on motorcycle with Harold.

In real life, Ogunquit is a resort town that sees a large number of tourists in the warmer months of the year. It is known for its large beaches and as a vacation hot spot for gay and lesbian tourists.
