McCall's Haunted Farm
This Halloween haunted attraction is located on the McCall family farm in Moriarty, New Mexico in close proximity to Albuquerque. It is a 320-acre farm that is owned and operated by Kevin and Kirsten McCall and their children. During the regular year, the farm is operated like most other farms throughout the world, but during the Halloween season, this farm transforms itself into a major haunted attraction.
The haunt first started as a haunted hayride in 2005, but quickly expanded in 2006 with the addition of a haunted corn maze. In 2007, the family added a haunted barn to complete the attraction as it remains today. The McCall family added the Halloween haunt and daytime activities as a form of agri-tourism, which adds in added revenue to combine with their traditional crop harvesting. As such, the farm also features its very own pumpkin patch, complete with a hayride, so visitors can pick up their pumpkins while enjoying the other activities on site. In addition to the nighttime haunted attraction, the farm also hosts a variety of daytime activities that include the corn maze, pedal carts, slide, mining for gemstones, and much, much more.
The Haunted Attraction
McCall's Haunted Farm is comprised of two separate attractions that are included in the price - The Haunted Cornfield and The Haunted Barn. However, both utilize the same back-story to see the tone.
The story concerns the McCall family, which was comprised of husband and wife and their four children. After a highway was built through the property in the 1970s, McCall grew despondent and the farm went uncared for. Fairly soon, his wife and children were no longer seen and the locals began to fear the worse. Their suspicion was further fueled when tourists whose cars broke down nearby simply disappeared and rumors of murder and cannibalism began to arise. When McCall himself disappeared, the local authorities thoroughly searched the grounds and uncovered their worst fears - skeletal remains that had been stripped to the bone and the shallow graves of Mrs. McCall and the four children. Mr. McCall was never seen again, though many believe he stills stalks the farm at night and ridding it of unfortunate trespassers.
Visitors that walk the cornfield maze that is The Haunted Cornfield find that the spirits of the victims are still around and looking for revenge from anyone they can get their hands on. Back at The Haunted Barn, the gruesome work of Mr. McCall is on full-display in this butcher shop crawling with insane cannibals.
