Velda Rose Resort Hotel & Spa
The Velda Rose opened in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1964 and despite its young age, has a dark past too. Reported incidents have included a man despondent over his marriage checking into the hotel and shooting himself in his room or a fight that left one person dead in a hallway. Some believe these guests never left the hotel and still haunt its halls to this day. Paranormal sightings have included shadows and apparitions, as well as doors opening and closing. The elevators in the hotel have also been known to suddenly move from floor to floor, despite no one being in them at the time. Guests have also reported the elevators taking them to various different floors than the one they originally pressed.
Hot Springs Ghost Hunt
The Velda Rose Resort Hotel is also the central point of a ghost tour/hunt led by the founder and director of the Central Arkansas Society for Paranormal Research (CASPR). Visitors get a ghostly tour of the Velda Rose as well as a video that documents paranormal activity throughout the city. Afterwards, participants are armed with EMF detectors, audio recorders and infrared night video cameras to take place in an actual paranormal investigation.
