The Terror Test
This Halloween haunted attraction is located in Lumberton, Mississippi and advertises itself as the "largest indoor haunted attraction" in the state. The Terror Test got its start in 2005 and was dreamed up by Rick Carballo and his Dark Crescent Productions. Originally, the business dealt with alternative forms of entertainment, like music festivals and the occasional independent horror film production. After building several sets for some of those films, the group decided to try recoup some of the costs by using them in a Halloween haunted attraction. The end result became The Terror Test and the group has been going strong ever since.
The group employs a large amount of veterans of the movie industry from horror and other genres as well. The end result is professional actors, set designers, make-up, and special effects experts that are already seasoned and work together to create a truly unique haunted attraction. From the looks of it, all of the hard work has paid off. The Terror Test reportedly pulls in an estimated 1,000 visitors a night.
The Attraction
The Terror Test has three separate attractions as part of the overall experience. Interestingly, visitors are expected to take the name of the haunt quite literally. Rather than lead or guide their visitors through the haunt as is common, all three attractions are built so that their guests have to think their way out of it - making it a true Terror Test. The three attractions include Switchblade Circus, Legion, and Slaughterhouse. In Switchblade Circus, the visitors are thrown into the world of a satanic circus with killer clowns and other frightening entities. Legion is more of a traditional haunted house, complete with a crazed family. Finally, Slaughterhouse is pretty self-explanatory and features plenty of blood and gore. Each attraction is completely revamped and revised each new season, so they always offer something new for returning guests.
