Information
The Stanley Hotel
The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration behind Stephen King's novel, The Shining.  King and his wife stayed in Room 217 of the hotel and had some strange occurrences, which inspired him to write the novel.  Various other guests over the years have reported paranormal activity throughout the hotel as well, even specifically centered on particular rooms.

Room 217
The famous room where Stephen King stayed during his visit to The Stanley Hotel.  It is said that King and his wife left the room, only to return to find all of their clothes and belongings folded and put away in the closet.  The closet door itself has a habit of opening and closing with no one near it as well.

The Fourth Floor
This floor served as the servant's floor in the hotel's past and also boasts the most reports of paranormal phenomenon.  In particular, room 418 seems to be the hotel's hotspot for activity.  Many guests have reported hearing children in the hallways and impressions appearing on the bed.  In fact, many people have seen or heard children in the hallway of the fourth floor, even when there were no children checked into the hotel.

The Rest of the Hotel
The phenomenon doesn't appear to be isolated to just the above locations.  There have been reports from all areas of the hotel, including the ballroom where the piano has been known to start playing by itself.  Ghosts of men, women and children have all been reported from various parts of the hotel and even the connecting concert hall, where screams have been heard on occasion, though the hall was supposed to be empty.  In addition, the staff have complained that they will clean Room 1302, only to return to find the room disheveled.

The Shining Mini-Series
King returned to the hotel for the 1997 television remake of his novel, which Mick Garris directed for ABC.  As part of the agreement to shoot there, the production crew agreed to perform some renovations on the hotel, which occurred during the shoot.  Subsequently, many of the cast and crew reported various unexplained encounters and events.

In 2006, the Sci-Fi Channel show, Ghost Hunters, filmed an episode of their show there.  They captured some strange happening, including a table suddenly jumping up and a glass shattering on camera when no one was near it.  It was such a strong experience, they returned to the hotel that Halloween for a live six-hour investigation.

The hotel embraces its haunted reputation and even gives a daily ghost tour.

Just attended a paranormal weekend, April 2008, with Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, Chris Fleming, John Zaffis, Patrick Burns, and Dave Shrader, to name a few. A great weekend, especially the 4 hour paranormal investigation.
