It appears that Stalker's Haunted House shuttered their doors for the 2009 season, but according to their official Web site (see below), they will return in 2010. However, no further updates have been made entering October 2010 so that status of the haunt is presumed to be closed. This page will be updated if any new information becomes available.
Stalker's Haunted House
For almost two decades, this Halloween haunted attraction has been thrilling their guests in Warren County, Iowa. Stalker's Haunted House first got its start back in 1990 by Indianola residents, Scott and Tina Griffin, in collaboration with the Indianola Jaycees. In 2001, Griffin moved the haunt to an old warehouse in nearby Carlisle and, aside from a two-year move, it has been its haunting grounds ever since.
The haunt is described as a more "old school" haunt that relies less on animatronics and over-the-top high tech effects and more on the sets and live actors. Over 20 volunteers don the masks and make-up to take on the roll of the monsters and provide the chills, as well as keep the crowds moving. The staff aims to make the haunt more of a personalized experience and is quick to memorize their guest's name and use them to good effect throughout the experience.
The Attraction
In order to keep their visitors off-guard, the Stalker's Haunted House employs the simple, but effective dark and twisting hallways to throw people off, with the assorted creatures lying in wait. Some of the scenes inside consist of a cemetery set, as well as a mad scientist's lab and more. One of the highlights of the haunt is a hallway of doors that always seems to lead back to the same hallway, which keeps the crowds guessing at how to get out.
Farfromspooken
Aside from the standard Halloween season, Stalker's Haunted House has another long-standing tradition. The event got its start back in 1991 and takes place annually on the furthest weekend from Halloween - hence the name, Farfromspooken. During that weekend, the doors to the haunt come back open and guests can get a little Halloween fun in the spring.
