Information
ScreamWorld
This Halloween haunted attraction has become well known not only in Houston, Texas, but also throughout the United States as well. Its humble beginnings date back to 1989 when co-owner Jim Fetterly composed his first haunt with the standard black walls and bloody props. Within a couple years, Fetterly hired then 16-year-old Mike Darling as one of the actors in his haunt and the two have been together ever since - today serving as co-creators. Their attraction initially developed into three separate haunts in the downtown Houston area, but ultimately decided to consolidate the attractions into one after customers complained about the long lines at each.

In 2001, the three attractions (The Edge of Darkness, The Haunted Hotel, and The Haunted Zone in 3D) were moved to a 4.5-acre lot and a 12,000-square-foot building. Aside from potential expansion possibilities, the new set-up was designed to create only one line for folks that wanted to attend all of the attractions inside the newly named ScreamWorld. Today, the black walls and bloody props have been expanded with top-of-the-line animatronics and special effects, in addition to countless employees who help fill out the scenes and lurk down the halls to scare the unsuspecting guests. The haunt now attracts over 30,000 guests each season.

The Main Attractions
The Maze of Maniacs - This attraction is an outdoor chain-link maze, complete with strobe lights and a wild assortment of creepy characters.

The Haunted Hotel - This 12-room "hotel" features over 50 scary faces and top-notch animatronic monsters. Be on the lookout for the full-sized car that comes driving at you at full speed.

The Edge of Darkness - Things go a bit dark inside this haunted house where guests have to make their way with limited light, while dodging the cobwebs and strange things brushing past their legs. And that's not to mention the few creatures that wander around in the dark and make an appearance when you least suspect it.

Other Attractions
Like many haunts, the attractions vary by year and, aside from the three main attractions above, ScreamWorld will change up their other attractions. For the 2008 season, ScreamWorld announced the addition of an amazing eight new "fright-filled areas" - The Tomb of Terror, The Torture Chamber, Dungeon of Doom, The Sewer, Alien Autopsy, Chamber of Death, and The Farm House. The 2010 season featured two new additions: Jake's Slaughterhouse and Psycho Path.
