The Defeo Murders
Six members of the Defeo family lie in graves here. All were murdered by family member, Ronald Defeo Jr. The house in which the murders ocurred later became known as the "Amityville Horror House" or simply the Amityville House. The horror movie Amityville II: The Possession was loosely inspired by the Defeo murders.
Maggie McNamara
Actress Maggie McNamara is also buried in this cemetery. She starred in The Twilight Zone episode "Ring-a-Ding Girl" and had a part in the Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode "Body in the Barn." She commited suicide in 1978.
