The store made national news because of an incident in May of 2007. Someone defaced The Goddess' Treasure Chest and another store (Angelica of the Angels). They left dismembered raccoon parts on doorsteps of the stores. The defacement appears to have possibly resulted from proposed regulations on the number of psychics operating in Salem during the Halloween season.
