Information
The Shadow Over Gloucester
It is likely that author H.P. Lovecraft based his fictional town of Innsmouth in part on the city of Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Hammond Castle
Gloucester is home to a castle (see Hammond Castle built by an eccentric Spiritualist. It is reputedly haunted. These days the castle is a museum that is open to the public.

The Perfect Storm
Gloucester is where the events transpired that led to the book and the movie The Perfect Storm. The movie was also filmed there. The Lady Grace, sister ship to the Andrea Gail (lost at sea with all hands during the storm), still docks at Gloucester.

The Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial
Gloucester's most widely recognized landmarks is the Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial (see Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial.) The statue and surrounding plaques memorialize all the Gloucester fisherman who have lost their lives at sea since the harbor city's founding in 1623.

Bewitched
During the Spring of 1970, episodes of the sitcom Bewitched were shot on location in both Salem (see Salem, Massachusetts) and Gloucester. Locations used in Gloucester included both the Fisherman's Memorial and Hammond Castle as well as the Gloucester House restaurant. Necessitated by a fire that had damaged the Bewitched soundstage, it was the only time that the classic TV show filmed on location. Known as the "Salem Saga", the location shooting ran through the first eight episodes of the seventh season.

Die You Zombie Bastards!
Besides The Perfect Storm, there have been a number of movies shot in Gloucester. Among those movies is Die You Zombie Bastards! The independent film, released in 2005, billed itself as the "World's First EVER Serial Killer Superhero Rock'n'Roll Zombie Road Movie Romance." The horror comedy was born from a trilogy of short films based around cannibal hillbillies. Despite its low-budget, the movie had scenes shot in four different states, including scenes shot in Gloucester, MA.
