Gilles Garnier
Dole, France was the site of supposed werewolf attacks in 1573. Children were attacked and some partly eaten. Hearing the cries of a young girl, villagers responded to find her being attacked by a man by the name of Gilles Garnier. Some said that Gilles was in the form of a beast during the attack but still recognizable. The villagers drove him off and later captured him. He confessed to being a werewolf and was burned at the stake.
