Blobfest
Every July since the year 2000, the town of Phoenixville has held the Blobfest event. The focal point for the event is the Colonial Theatre. The theatre hosts showings of The Blob as well as other sci-fi/horror classics. There is also amateur film contests, panel discussions with cast and crew from The Blob, the actual Blob prop on display, a tinfoil hat contest and more. The fest also includes a re-enactment of the crowd fleeing the Colonial Theatre to escape the Blob. Participants get to run screaming from the very theater used in the film!
