Creepyworld
This Halloween haunted attraction in Fenton, Missouri is the child of Larry Kirchner who made a name for himself in the industry for the haunt, The Darkness (see The Darkness), in nearby Saint Louis. Kirchner along with partner Jim Kelly formed the company, Halloween Productions, Inc., and channeled their energies into making The Darkness one of the best Halloween haunts in the nation. After amassing countless accolades and a national reputation, they decided to make a commitment in 2006 into turning Creepyworld into "the biggest and best outdoor Halloween and Haunted Attraction in America."
What resulted was an attraction that was four times the size of The Darkness and doubled the amount of employees required to run it. While the other attraction is more geared to providing a top-notch horrifying experience, Creepyworld is more family-friendly and offers a wide variety of activities. The haunt actually dates back to its former days as FearFest, which Halloween Productions, Inc. purchased back in 2001 and officially took on the name of Creepyworld in 2007. Today, the haunt features the latest in animatronics, special effects, pyrotechnics, top-of-the-line set pieces, and more to keep their visitors caught off-guard.
The Attraction
Creepyworld is made up seven different attractions that are all included in the price of admission. The first stop is Route 666 Drive Inn (added in 2010); an old drive-in with horror movies playing and a maze of abandoned cars and strange creatures. Once the visit to America's drive-in past is over, guests move on to Raven's Manor; a 6,000 square-foot haunted house where the dead have been resurrected by odd experiments. Next up is The Dominion of the Vampire (formerly Grisly's Graveyard) where the dead have taken over a cemetery filled with crypts, a mausoleum, hearses and a body-infested swamp. Guests can then get off their feet for a ride on the Tombstone Haunted Hayride (the exclusive hayride in Saint Louis) through the haunted ghost town. The next stop is at the aptly named Ice Scream Factory, haunted by a serial killer not-so-aptly-named, Smiles The Clown, presented in 3D. The most popular stop on the trip is a walk through the infamous Silo-X, which can boast to being the largest haunted house in the Saint Louis area. It is over 30,000 square-feet of mutated monsters that have overtaken a military base. Those that still have not had enough can visit the last stop on the tour - Choppers Gore and Grill - where guests quickly find that their on the menu for a gang of zombie bikers. The attraction even features live music and in-line entertainment to keep their visitors entertained whether they have just left or about to enter the main attractions.
