Information
Nightmare on 17th Street, Cheyenne, WY
This Halloween haunted attraction in Cheyenne, Wyoming has been scaring guests for two decades and has become generally recognized as one of the best haunts in the area. Nightmare on 17th Street got its start in 1989 by members of the local members of the Knights of Pythias fraternal order to provide a safe Halloween attraction for the general community, as well as to raise funds for various charitable organizations.

The attraction is set at the local chapter's lodge, which is transformed into roughly 2,000-square-feet haunt each year. Nightmare on 17th Street utilizes the combination of sound effects and live actors to establish the scares and is run by 30 to 40 volunteers each season. It has quickly grown in popularity in the region in its years of operation and attracts an average of between 12,000 to 15,000 visitors annually.

The Attraction
The haunt got its start as a short haunted maze but has gradually expanded over the years to become a multi-room haunted house. Each room offers a unique theme and the haunt is known to reinvent those themes and change over the years. In past years, Nightmare on 17th Street has featured rooms based on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Stephen King's It (featuring Pennywise the clown), The Addams Family (complete with Gomez, Morticia, Thing and Cousin Itt), and even the recent film Dead Silence (with evil puppets).
