Harrah's Laughlin is part of a chain of casino/hotels that are in 12 states within the US as well as Ontario, Canada and Uruguay. The casino in Laughlin features gambling, dining, lodging and entertainment. There are two performance stages at the casino; a 280 seat indoor showroom and an outdoor amphitheater that seats 3,000. It also has multiple restaurants/eateries; Fresh Market Square Buffet, Beach Cafe, Baja Blue Restaurant & Cantina, the Range Steakhouse, McDonald's, Starbucks, Baskin Robbins and Cinnabon. There are stores to shop in as well as a salon and day spa. There are also few bars.

Harrah's Laughlin made national news in 2002 when it became the scene of the first multiple slaying in a Nevada Casino.

The River Run Riot
On April 27, 2002 the Harrah's casino in Laughlin was the scene of a deadly confrontation between rival biker gangs. It occurred during the 20th annual Laughlin River Run, the largest gathering for motorcycle enthusiasts in the Western United States, with anywhere from 70,000-80,000 participants. The confrontation between the Hell's Angels and their rival, the Mongols, resulted in the deaths of three men.

The incident occurred slightly after 2 am in the morning. Roughly 40 members of the Mongols biker gang were partying at Rosa's Cantina, a bar that was within the casino. A group of anywhere from 30 to 40 Hell's Angels entered the casino from the valet parking entrance. Casino security immediately took notice of a possible situation and moved to intercept the Hells Angels members. Shortly after, insults began to be shouted between the rival gang members. This led to a Hells Angel kicking a Mongol in the chest, touching off a massive brawl. The whole thing was caught on surveillance video. It only lasted a minute and a half.

Knives, hammers, wrenches, bats and a few guns were used during the fight, sending casino workers and patrons alike scrambling for cover. Security staff acted swiftly, locking down elevators and doors. Within minutes, police and ambulances arrived on the scene. Three men lay dead in the aftermath. Hells Angels members Robert Tumelty (age 50) and Jeramie Bell (age 27) had both been fatally shot. The third fatality was Mongol member Anthony Barrera (age 43). Many others were wounded non-fatally in the fight (including one bystander who was shot in the buttocks).

One other Hells Angel who attended the Laughlin River Run was slain separately from the casino incident. Christian Tate (age 28) had left to head to San Diego, California hours prior to the confrontation. He was found shot to death along Highway 40. His murder remains unsolved.

Six Hells Angels and six Mongols wound up with prison sentences from the incident. Only Hells Angel Calvin Schaefer (age 32) was charged with murder. Another Hells Angel, Frederick Donahue (age 43), became a fugitive until finally turning himself in to authorities six years later, in July of 2008.
