Information
Closed for 2010
According to GoatMan Hollow's official Web site (see Related Sites below), the Halloween haunted attraction will be closed for the 2010 season. This closure appears to be just temporary, as the site promises that the haunt will return in 2011. In the meantime, the past seasonal information is included below.

GoatMan Hollow
This annual Halloween haunted attraction is located in Riverdale, Maryland and plays off the infamous local legend of the Goatman of Prince George's County. The real stories of the Goatman date back to the 1950s when people reported seeing a creature that had the legs of a goat, torso of a man, and a head with a full set of horns in the area. According to some, the creature is often seen sporting an axe and has a habit of attacking unfortunate teens who make the mistake of parking their car at lover's lane or beheading local dogs and livestock. The Goatman has been spotted in various roads in the county and is believed to be the result of scientific experiments gone awry.

The creators of GoatMan Hollow took the local legend and spun it into a Halloween haunted attraction, while adding their own twist on the legends. It started in 2002 in nearby Hyattsville by a pair of neighbors that found their respective haunted lawn attractions had outgrown their space. Property owners Bill Livingston and Mike Gemeny teamed up with Jay and Jennifer Wright and transformed Livingston and Gemeny's two-acre forested lot into GoatMan Hollow.

Within a few short years, their haunt had taken off to the point that the group needed more space. After a hiatus in 2005, the co-owners moved their attraction in 2006 to the John C. Dorsey building, donated by the Douglas Development Corporation for the event, in Riverdale where it remains to this day. A staff of around 100 volunteers that make up all age groups run the haunt and a portion of each years proceeds goes to benefit the Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department. By 2007, GoatMan Hollow had already made such a name for itself that it was featured on the Travel Channel's America's Scariest Halloween Attractions.

The Attraction
GoatMan Hollow is advertised as a "theatrical haunted production" that encourages participation of its visitors. The event adapts and advances the legend of the Goatman of Prince George's County and adds its own fictional twist to the tale each new season. As the theme and story change from year to year, visitors will always find something new each season. The haunt is comprised of various movie effects and studio lighting, combined with improvisational actors and mystifying illusionists to provide the chills.
