Information
Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park
This park is composed of natural rock formations caused by the San Andreas Fault. In the 1870s the rocks served as a hideout for notorious bandito Tiburcio Vasquez for whom the park is named. These days the park is mainly recognizable for its heavy usage as a film set for movies, TV shows, music videos and commercials. The park was the scene of the highly memorable battle between Captain Kirk and the lizard-like Gorn captain in the Arena episode of the original Star Trek TV series. It was also used for scenes in the third Evil Dead film, Army of Darkness as well as the classic Bela Lugosi Dracula.

The park is open to the public for picnicking, hiking, etc. Weddings and large gatherings have to be booked in advance.
