454 Angell St, Providence, RI 02906, USA (Providence, Rhode Island)

Information
Birth of a Legend
H.P. Lovecraft, horror author, was born on August 20, 1890 in his parents' home that once stood in this spot. It was 194 Angell at the time of his birth and later became 454 Angell. Lovecraft lived in the house from his birth in 1890 until 1904.

The house was leveled in 1961 and now an apartment building with an entirely different address sits in that spot. There is a Starbucks across the street from it. Quite a change from the park-like description that Lovecraft gave of the area surrounding his childhood home.

Books on the Square, a book store a little ways up the street at 471 Angell Street, carries a selection of Lovecraft anthologies.
