Haunted Hayrides
This Halloween haunted attraction is located next to Scarborough Downs in Scarborough, Maine (just outside of Portland) and has been thrilling guests for almost two decades. Haunted Hayrides got its start in the nearby town of Gorham in 1990 by owner Durward Worster, who moved the haunt to the town of Scarborough in 2004. Over time, the haunt has grown to be one of the most recognized and most visited Halloween haunted attractions in the state of Maine.
The Attraction
On any given night, an average of 80 people are hard at work behind the scenes of the Haunted Hayrides in order to scare the countless guests that hop onboard. The haunt takes guests on an estimated 40-minute hayride through a dark forest filled with several scenes and all sorts of ghouls, ghosts, witches, vampires and other monsters. The haunt has gained a big enough reputation that they even pull in guests from as far away as Massachusetts.
