Hanna Haunted Acres
This popular Halloween haunted attraction in Indianapolis, Indiana has been going strong since 1992 and seemingly continues to expand its offerings each new season. Hanna Haunted Acres got its start in 1992 with the Hanna Haunted Hayrides as a way to supplement farming. The event was further expanded in 1996 with the addition of the Entanglement Cornfield Maze. During this time, the Phantazmagoria Haunted House was running over at the Marion County Fair through the years of 1995 through 1997 before it ultimately closed its doors. It would be reopened here at Hanna Haunted Acres in 2004 and become "one of Indianapolis' most feared haunted houses."
Today, Hanna Haunted Acres employs over 100 people and work begins several months in advance in order to provide the best possible frightening experience. The creative minds behind the haunt boast an impressive 60 years of experience in the haunted attraction industry. They have spread the attraction out over the 75-acre location and employed the latest in special effects, sound effects, and animatronics to keep their guests caught off guard.
The Attractions
Hanna Haunted Acres is comprised of five major attractions that reportedly take at least two hours to go through them all. The first is their signature haunt, Hanna Haunted Hayrides, which takes guests on a wagon ride through a haunted forest filled with the likes of witches, werewolves, demons, ghosts, corpses, and the occasional chainsaw wielding maniac. The Entanglement Cornfield Maze is spread out over five acres and is an intricately weaved maze filled with all sorts of madness. The infamous Phantazmagoria Haunted House is more of a traditional styled haunted house, but one that has grown the reputation of being one of the best in Indianapolis. The screams from that haunt are reportedly only amplified by the Hell's 1/2 Acre, which is orientated for those with the "darker" tastes. In 2008, the aptly titled Blackout was added to the mix. The maze is immersed in total darkness making it more than a little difficult to find the way out. The last addition occurred in 2009 with another haunted house, Carnevil; a circus where the entertainment has gone mad.
