Ghosts
A ghost of a small girl is said to haunt the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City, Missouri. The story goes that in 1993, a repairman was working in the Mansion's attic. After he came down, he reportedly told a member of the staff that a little girl in a white dress had been playing up there most of the day. No children were believed to be in the mansion at the time and subsequent search found no one in the attic. The ghost is believed to have been the daughter of Governor Thomas Crittenden, Carrie, who died exactly 100 years before this occurrence of diphtheria. Other strange events include candles appearing melted down only moments after being placed, objects moving, voices and laughter are heard when no one is supposed to be there, and the elevator has been to travel up and down with no one in it.
The Haunted Mansion
Around Halloween, the first floor is converted into "The Haunted Mansion" with ghoulish displays and a storyteller provides some "friendly" ghost stories. Outside the mansion, there are magic shows, face painting, music and much more.
