Dark tourism destinations in the news includes Jenna Bush's haunting White House encounters, haunted hotels, Bigfoot, New Orleans, NASA UFO lawsuit, a Halloween haunt wedding, haunted locations worldwide, and plenty of ghost walks and Halloween attractions.  I decided to avoid the Halloween listings from here on out to salvage my own sanity as well as yours and instead focused on articles that featured particular destinations.  These articles appeared today in newspapers and magazines around the world and are featured here as a companion to our Dark Destinations.  As always, if you notice an article we missed, please send it to us using the link on the bottom of the page. Spooks On The Hill An article from the National Journal recounts how President George W. Bush's daughter, Jenna, recently told the Texas Monthly about her ghostly encounters in The White House.  Also, Dennis Kucinich + aliens = how can you pass this one up? Famous Haunted Hotels WTVM reports on the most famous hotels around the world known for their hauntings and ghosts.  The article includes a slideshow that features the likes of the Hotel del Coronado, the Lizzie Borden B & B, The Stanley Hotel, The Crescent Hotel, and many more. Internet shifts perspective of 'Bigfootage' An article from Lawrence Journal World takes a new look at a digital-enhancement of the 1967 Patterson/Gimlin footage purported to show Bigfoot or a Sasquatch-like creature in the Six Rivers National Forest near Willow Creek, California.  Unknown primate or man in a monkey suit?  You decide. EXTRA: Limbo on Ghosts at the Lodge Las Cruces Sun-News reports on the reportedly haunted The Lodge Resort and Spa in Cloudcroft, New Mexico - believed to be haunted by a ghost named Rebecca. New Orleans a Halloween destination San Antonio Express reports on the popularity of New Orleans, Louisiana this time of year, as well as its haunted attractions and ghost walks/hunts. Dr. Larry Montz's Top 10 Haunted Sites in New Orleans Taking it one step further, this article from San Antonio Express lists the top ten haunted sites of New Orleans, including Brennan's Restaurant, Le Pavillon Hotel, Bourbon Orleans Hotel, and more. NASA to Search Files on UFO Incident The Associated Press reports that NASA has finally agreed to search their archives for more information regarding an unidentified flying object reportedly crashing in the woods near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania in 1965 after pressure from a lawsuit.  Sadly, this incident does not involve Dennis Kucinich. Hunting down the haunted The Shield takes a look at the reports of hauntings in and around Evansville, Indiana and includes a stop at its most famous attraction, The Willard Library - Home to a reported spirit known as Lady in Grey. Knock, knock Niagarathisweek.com visits the reportedly haunted tomb of Samuel Hopkins at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wainfleet in the province of Ontario, Canada. Haunting times at Roselawn Centre Niagarathisweek.com also has this feature on the Roselawn Centre in nearby Port Colborne, which is believed to be the home of four ghosts. Ghost and goblins haunt local eatery The Trail Blazer features this write-up on the allegedly haunted Mr. Gatti's restaurant in Morehead, Kentucky. Ghost busted? An article from the Chicago Sun-Times explores the ghostly legend of Inez Clarke, who many believe to haunt Graceland Cemetery in Uptown, Illinois and come from all over to see her - Only problem is that recent research reveals no one by that name was buried there or might have ever existed. A&M-CC alums tell Texas-sized ghost story An article from the Corpus Christi Caller Times reports on the upcoming film, The Wild Man of the Navidad, which is reportedly based on an eyewitness encounters of a Bigfoot-like creature around the Navidad River in Southeast Texas. In search of the paranormal The Advertiser-News has this report on the reportedly haunted Munson Homestead in Franklin, New Jersey and profiles a local ghost hunting group. The residents of Red Doe A writer for South Carolina Now joins a ghost hunting team as they investigate the reportedly haunted historic Red Doe Plantation in Florence, South Carolina. More ghost stories from across Kansas The Wichita Eagle delves into their archives to dig up the stories of the paranormal around the state of Kansas. Freaky Friday: Exploring Connecticut's Other Side NBC30 explores the various haunting legends of Connecticut, including Union Graveyard's White Lady, Pettibone's Tavern in Simsbury and many more.  The site features video clips that tell the stories. Hunting for Haunts An article from the Business Gazette details the alleged hauntings of Prince George's County, Maryland; including the Glenn Dale Hospital, St. John's Episcopal Church, and more. Touring Oak Bluffs, Paranormal Boom Town Ablaze With Spirits Martha's Vineyard Gazette reports on the ghostly legends of Oak Bluffs on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; including a pair of possible arsonist ghosts. Is there anybody there? Manchester Evening News visits the reportedly haunted Ordsall Hall in Salford, England for a little bit of ghost hunting. Red Lion owner says boo to you, ghosts The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Red Lion Pub in Chicago, Illinois, that is rumored to be the home of several ghosts, is being demolished and replaced by a new building.  Fortunately, they expect the ghosts to stick around. Vicious Spirits An article from the New York Post lists the top 10 most haunted sites in New York City, New York; including the Chelsea Hotel where the spirit of the Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious is believed to reside. Area 'haunting' book enlarged The Winchester Star has this write-up on the new book, Historic Haunts of Winchester, A ghostly trip through the past, from author Mac Rutherford that explores the ghost legends of Winchester, Virginia. High spirits at Best Western Hotels Easier has this write-up on the reported hauntings at Best Western's hotels in the United Kingdom. Going Places: Toronto can be scary this time of year NorthernLife.ca provides this quick report on the haunted history of Toronto, Canada; including the Royal York Hotel and Toronto's Old City Hall. Our hometown haunts Student Life takes a look at the ghostly legends of Saint Louis, Missouri with stops at The Lemp Mansion, the Halloween haunt - The Darkness, and more. Ghostly gatherings return to museum An article from the St. Petersburg Times about the reportedly haunted May-Stringer Heritage Museum in Brooksville, Florida and their upcoming Halloween "haunted open house" festival. On terror trail Tuscaloosa News has this write-up on the Halloween haunt Netherworld in Atlanta, Georgia. Ghouls, goblins gather for haunted house wedding What's better than a Halloween haunt?  How about getting married at one with the Grim Reaper overseeing the ceremony?  CNN reports on this happy, haunting occasion at the 7 Floors of Hell attraction in Berea, Ohio.  Thanks to Tom for sending it in. Haunted Cell Blocks and Angry Executed Prisoners No, not Eastern State again.  West Virginia MetroNews reports on the reportedly haunted old state penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia, which is now decked out for their Halloween haunt Dungeons of Horror. 'Ghost Nights' explores Victorian Spiritualism Glens Falls Post-Star reports on this weekend's Victorian Ghost Nights at the Chapman Historical Museum in Glen Falls, New York - the museum is also reported to be haunted. Things that go bump in the night The Queen's Journal highlights The Haunted Walk of Kingston that explores the ghosts of the city in Canada. After Dark: Haunted crawls, tours a big draw for locals A write-up from the Annapolis Capital highlights the Haunted Pub Crawls and Walking Ghost Tours available in Annapolis, Maryland. Cemetery ghost tour to revive voices of dead Spartanburg Herald Journal features the Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society's annual Historic Hayride and Ghost Walk in Gaffney, South Carolina. Longmont spooks have stories to tell The Longmont Daily Times-Call has this write-up on the Historic Ghost Tour of Longmont, Colorado that ventures through the city's haunted past. Halloween ghost walks An article from the Peterborough Evening Telegraph highlights The Peterborough Ghost Walk and ghost vigil at Peterborough Museum with stories about the English city's spooky past.
