Dark tourism destinations in the news include the ghost ships of Lake Michigan, Bigfoot in Minnesota and California, Owasco Lake Monster, the Crosset Light, UFOs in Australia and Washington D.C., the haunted Oregon coast, the Sloss Fright Furnace, the Crescent Hotel, and several other spooky locales, ghost walks, and Halloween attractions in the United States and Canada.  These articles appeared over the last two days in newspapers and magazines around the world and are featured here as a companion to our Dark Destinations.  As always, if you notice an article we missed, please send it to us using the link on the bottom of the page. Ghost ships on Lake Michigan The Daily Journal explores the legends of ghost ships (or phantom ships) on Lake Michigan that sailors still continue to report seeing sailing, despite the ship sinking years ago. Sightings of Bigfoot more common, say Northland searchers A writer from the Duluth News Tribune looks into reported sightings of a Sasquatch-like creature in northeastern Minnesota's forests. Queensland invaded by UFOs An article from the Melbourne Herald Sun looks at the "significant number" of sightings of unidentified flying objects in the state of Queensland in Australia. The Dark Side of Oregon's Coastal Lighthouses BeachConnection.net takes a look at the haunted past and ghostly sightings of the lighthouses that dot the Oregon coastline. Ghost Hunters investigate suspected Franklin, Ky. haunting A reporter for The Leaf-Chronicle tags along on a paranormal investigation of the Octagon Hall in Franklin, Kentucky, long rumored to be haunted. This Halloween season, see a spooky side of Canada The Gazette has this write-up of ghost tours currently available around the country of Canada. History center event hits local 'haunts' A writer for the Kane County Chronicle goes for a walk on the Haunted Geneva ghost tour that explores the reports of paranormal activity in Geneva, Illinois.
