"The Case" by Killer Klown

He had no idea what was in it, but he knew that the worth of it could possibly leadto his own demise. Manley paid him a lot of money to deliver what was in the case to its destination. That was the way that they always did business. Money up front, no questions. If there were any questions, then there wasn't any questions. Hart sat down on the train, and looked at the people that were sitting in the same car as he was. One woman with her infant child in a stroller, another man that looked like he had passed his alcohol limit the night before, two young black men dressed in business suits talking about the direction of the NASDAQ, but no one out of the ordinary. That is what you looked for in this business - the out of place. It was a survival skill. Nothing was out of place today on this train. Normal was good.

The train stopped at Alewife station and two more men entered the train along with a bag lady that had a masterpiece of collected newspapers in her carriage. Hart steadied himself for the accerlation of the train, trying hard not to let the case bang against anything. As the train began its course, Hart noticed that the eyes of the bag lady were locked onto him. Moment after moment she did not avert her stare. Hart fired right back and did not let his stare break either. Finally, Hart whispered to her under his breath "What?" The woman slowly rose from her seat and walked slowly towards Hart. As she walked towards him, she knocked over the cart that she was with, spilling her papers all over the train. Hart's hands tightened around the handle of the case as he said outloud to the woman this time "Sit down!" He response was negative, her gaze still locked on him as if she was in a trance of some sort. Suddenly, she lunged for the case and began to rip and tear at Hart with eveything that she had. She grabbed his hair and his face, and began scratching and clawing at him. Hart struggled to break free of her, as the other passengers of train did nothing to help. Hart punched the woman in the stomach with a shot that buckled her over and then with his hands, pushed her across to the other wall.

She hit the wall with a resounding "thwap" and fell into the row of seats. Hart's eyes widened as she immediately returned to her feet and charged him again. Hart fought her off again, and finally another passenger got up and went over to help the situation. "That's enough!" the black businessman yelled. As he was about to wrap his arms around the woman, he froze. "Get this b$%ch off of me, man!" Hart yelled. The man's eyes froze on Hart, and Hart's eyes widened as he saw the same gaze the bag lady had, in the eyes of the businessman. "Oh, no." Hart whispered as the businessman began throwing blows into the body of Hart.
The businessman immediately grabbed for the case and tried to rip it away, but found it was attached to Hart's wrist.

The businessman then began to bite down on Hart's wrist. Hart howled in pain as the blood began to pool around the man 's teeth and run down his forearm. "F--k this!" Hart yelled, as he kicked off the bag lady, and punched the businessman in the face. Hart then quickly reached into his coat and drew a nickle-plated .40 S&W, and pulled the trigger. The bullet punched through the bag lady's forehead sending a spray of red out the back of her head. Her eyes rolled upwards and went white, as she collapsed in a heap on the floor. His second shot went through the businessman's chest, stopping him in his tracks. He hit the floor too. The other passengers began to scream and run for the exits screaming that there was a madman with a gun on the train. As Hart moved to the rear of the train, the vestible door opened and a Transit cop walked through. He froze, turned his head slightly, and rushed Hart, pinning him against the wall. The cop slammed two forearms into Hart's face, cracking the window behind him. The cop then felt a pressure in his chest, which was followed by two faint pops. Blood rolled out of the Transit cop's mouth as he dropped to the floor. Pulling the emergency chord, Hart braced for the brakes to come on. As they did, the train rolled to a stop. Hart went out the vestible door, and climbed the fence. He was miles from his destination, but there was a lot more at stake.

Hart made it to the main street, and went to the edge of the curb to hail a cab. As he did, a passing car that had just passed him slammed on the breaks. The driver got out and walked towards him. Hart was about to thank the man for stopping when he noticed the eyes. Shortly after, another car stopped and its driver got out. Hart ran. He passed a bakery and its patrons emptied out in pursuit of him. A man on a motorcycle that drove past him spun the bike around and made for him. They all had the stare. Hart then ducked into an alleyway with a fence and slammed shut the gate that was there. He was safe for the moment. As he sucked air into his burning lungs, he was unaware that one of the building's security officers was out back having a cigarette. He suddenly turned, with the same stare in his eyes.......
