I recently came across the Web site for Morbid Decor after seeing an image of the company's lamp featuring the image of Night of the Living Dead's Karen Cooper (Kyra Schon). I was thrilled to see the further iconic images from classic horror films chosen by Morbid Decor to be featured on its lamps and lightboxes. Max Schreck as Count Orlock in Nosferatu glares down from the deck of a doomed ship on one wall-hanging lightbox that is shaped like a casket. The back-lit sepia image brings to mind a showing of the film upon a movie screen and creating a striking contrast between light and shadow. Other lamps and lightboxes pay homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1 & 2), The Brain That Wouldn't Die, The Day the Earth Stood Still, House on Haunted Hill, Robot Monster and others. The company also offers lights with images that appear to be illustrations from old anatomical texts, the perfect lamp for Herbert West's basement lab!

Morbid Decor, which is based out of Maryland, is the work of one craftsman named Dave who personally handcrafts each item. Morbid Decor products can be purchased through the official Web Site or through the following stores: Cactus Records in Bozeman, Montana; Finder’s Creepers in Des Moines, Iowa; Gift Emporium in Kingston, Rhode Island; House of Madness Tattoos in Manchester, Maryland and the Museum of the Weird in Austin, Texas.

You can visit the Morbid Decor Web site at www.MorbidDecor.com.
